What is Thunder Funder?

Thunder Funder is your go-to crowdfunding platform, dedicated to backing companies that specialize in Free Open Source Software (FOSS). We connect cutting-edge FOSS projects with enthusiastic investors ready to support and benefit from open-source innovation.

How does Thunder Funder work?

At Thunder Funder, it’s simple: FOSS-focused companies launch campaigns on our platform, showcasing their projects and funding needs. Investors like you can explore these campaigns, choose the projects you believe in, and invest directly through our secure, user-friendly platform. It’s all about making impactful investments in the open-source community.

What is equity crowdfunding?

Equity crowdfunding allows you to invest in a company in exchange for shares or a stake in that company. On Thunder Funder, this means you can support FOSS companies and potentially earn returns as these companies grow and succeed.

Who can invest on Thunder Funder?

Both accredited and non-accredited US investors can invest on Thunder Funder, making it inclusive for anyone passionate about open-source innovation.

Accredited Investors: Meet specific financial criteria, such as earning over $200,000 per year (or $300,000 with a spouse) for the last two years, or having a net worth over $1 million (excluding primary residence).

Non-accredited Investors: Those who do not meet the above financial thresholds but still have access to numerous investment opportunities on Thunder Funder.

How long until I see a return?

The timeline for seeing a return varies with each investment. Some projects might start paying dividends or interest relatively soon, while others, like equity investments, might take longer until the company grows or gets acquired. Patience is key, but the potential rewards can be worth the wait!
